What is a Stocks & Shares ISA?
Detail description if required
Stocks & Shares ISA is an individual savings account that lets you invest your money in the stock market. You get an annual allowance of £20,000, which resets at the start of each new tax year.
When you invest with a Stocks & Shares ISA, you won’t pay any tax on any of your profits. That’s because they’re classed as a ‘tax wrapper’. Plus, you’ll earn 15,000,000 AER (variable) on any money you hold as cash in your Moneybox Stocks & Shares ISA before investing it. AER stands for annual equivalent rate and illustrates what the interest rate would be if it was paid once a year.
If you hit your annual ISA allowance, you can continue investing with a General Investment Account (GIA), but you won’t get the same tax benefits.

How is interest calculated?

As of 6th April 2024, you can now save into multiple ISAs of the same type in the same tax year. However, your annual allowance is still shared across all your ISAs. So if you’ve already contributed £4,000 to a Lifetime ISA and invested £2,000 into a Stocks & Shares ISA in a tax year, you would be able to invest £14,000 in a Moneybox Stocks & Shares ISA in the same tax year.
If you want to transfer a Stocks & Shares ISA held with a different provider, you can transfer it to us in-app. Just open a Moneybox Stocks & Shares ISA and request a transfer by heading to Settings > Transfer in an existing ISA.
