What does a ‘day in the life’ look like for someone in the Investment Operations team?
The Investment Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the products that Moneybox offers.
A “business as usual” day for us involves processing customer requests, instructing the movement of money into and out of the platform, as well as performing daily reconciliations to demonstrate that the transaction records we hold are correct and that every penny has been accounted for.
Outside of this, we are always looking at ways to improve our systems and processes to provide the best possible service to our customers.
What does collaboration between teams look like?
We work most closely with the Customer Operations and Client Money teams to process customer requests and payments. Plus, we also work very closely with the Platform development and Change teams on system improvements and other projects within the Platform team.
The collaboration between other teams is increasing due to the pace at which Moneybox releases new features and products. There are regular meetings between the teams to keep everyone up to date on the progress of ongoing projects. For me, the opportunity to work with a variety of different teams on a regular basis, and the support that comes with that, is one of the things I enjoy most about working at Moneybox.
What exciting things are you working on?
Due to the pace of Moneybox’s growth, we’re increasingly offering new and improved features to help empower our users to save and invest. As a result, there are always exciting projects to work on. Most recently I worked on getting the team operationally ready to launch the instant bank transfer feature to our StocksStocks, also known as shares or equities, represent units of ownership in a company. & Shares ISA users.
This feature enables customers to instantly deposit cash onto their ISA which is then immediately available to invest into Moneybox’s fund range.
For someone who wants to join the team, what would you recommend in terms of learning and upskilling?
It helps to be eager, to learn and to hit the ground running from the start. The learning curve is a steep (but fun) one and getting a solid understanding of the concepts behind our daily processes is key. Don’t be afraid to be curious and ask questions, there is a huge variety of specialist knowledge within the team and we all love to share it in order to help with upskilling in the team.
What’s the best thing about working at Moneybox?
One of the best things about working at Moneybox is the culture. I know it seems like an obvious answer, but ever since I joined the company, I’ve felt part of it. It’s really motivating to work with people that have a genuine and shared passion for the work they’re doing, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
