Did you know that the Moneybox team has grown from 35 to 100 employees over the last year? So this month, we’re chatting to three of our keen new starters. Find out about their experience, joining the team and top tips for anyone looking to join Moneybox!

Meet Max, Adam and Louisa. 

 

In a nutshell, tell us about your role here at Moneybox

Adam:
I’m responsible for setting the vision and strategy of the QA function. On a day to day basis, I support delivery, manage our high-performing QA team and work with a variety of stakeholders from across the business to improve the quality of all of our products.

Louisa:
I work as part of our Customer Operations team so my work varies but everything I do revolves around our Cash Lifetime ISA (LISA) and ISA products. From helping customers transfer in their current ISA or LISA to liaising with solicitors when a customer is ready to buy a house.

Max:
I’m a developer in the Cloud Apps team, so I help implement new features and bug fixes related to the app itself.

 

How have you found the transition to life at Moneybox?

Louisa:
I am a recent graduate from a small university town so moving to London has been a massive change without taking into consideration the transition from studying into full time employment. However, working at Moneybox has helped a tonne! The work itself is fast-paced and my colleagues are friendly and happy to help.

Adam:
Before joining Moneybox, I held numerous QA positions on behalf of a BIG4 consultancy where I was responsible for delivering digital testing services. The biggest challenge for me has been transitioning away from a very large corporate setting to a digital start-up environment. I love the fast-paced delivery and variety of work in my new role! 

Max:
I had a year working full-time during uni, so I was ready for the leap into professional life. This is the first time I have had my weekends free though, so I’m definitely appreciating the structure that a work week brings.

 

How did you find the interview and onboarding process at Moneybox?

Max:
It was enjoyable! I submitted a technical test first, and then the face to face interviews were less formal than I’m used to. Everyone was friendly, so it felt more like having a chat than an interview.

Adam:
Very smooth, the duration from start (application stage) to finish (first day on the job) was a period of just 3 weeks. This was very rapid as it included phone screens, an assessment and a face-to-face interview! It was also great to get to meet so many members of the team before joining.

Louisa:
After my first phone call on a Friday, I submitted a written task and was invited to a face to face the following Tuesday. By Thursday I had an interview with Ben Stanway (our Co-founder) which wasn’t nerve-wracking at all! Let’s say that the interview process prepared me for my fast-paced role!

 

What’s your favourite part about working here?

Adam:
The impact you can have from the get go. We’re a rapidly growing company and if you have a positive and collaborative mindset then you can really make your mark.  

Louisa:
I love our company culture. Every person who works here is happy to joke around with you on a Friday afternoon and share knowledge with you on a Monday morning. 

Max:
Definitely the culture; everyone’s been so friendly and willing to answer the tonnes of questions I have. It really creates a good mood while working.

 

What would be your top tip for anyone looking to apply?

Max:
I’d say doing your due diligence of looking up what the company goals are and how we operate. Also like I said, everyone’s extremely friendly so definitely be yourself and let your personality come through.

Louisa:
It seems obvious, but it’s important to really believe in our mission – helping everyone save and invest for the future. Download the app and understand the tools and information we provide.
