What is the Open Access Cash ISA?

The Moneybox Open Access Cash ISA is a Cash ISA offering an interest rate of 5.05% AER (variable), including a bonus rate of 1.05% for the first 12 months.

The account can be managed via our website or mobile app, and has a minimum first deposit of £500. You can pay in up to £20,000 per tax year, and this limit is shared between any other ISAs or Lifetime ISAs you hold. Any interest you earn is completely tax free.

Interest is calculated on a daily basis and is paid into your Cash ISA annually, on the anniversary of the date your ISA was first opened.

A lower interest rate of 0.75% AER (variable) applies whenever your account balance is less than £500, and you’ll temporarily lose the bonus rate until your balance increases to £500 or more. Unlike our Cash ISA, there are no restrictions on the number of withdrawals you can make.

A 25% government penalty applies if you withdraw money from a Lifetime ISA for any reason other than buying your first home (up to £450,000) or for retirement, and you may get back less than you paid into your Lifetime ISA.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Payments you make into your pension won’t be accessible until the minimum pension age (currently 55, increasing to age 57 from 2028). Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may be subject to change in the future.
